Lesson Policy
Policies regarding the delivery of lessons at Up Tempo Music Academy
Up Tempo Music Academy has been dedicated to assisting and supporting students and their musical achievements. To ensure all our students and teachers continue to receive the long-term benefits of a musical education, we require all of our students (and/or parents) to adhere to these terms of tuition.
Lesson Fees:
Our teachers depend on student payments for their income. Lesson fees are invoiced in advance and should be paid within 7 days of the invoice date. Payment options include internet banking transfer or cash.
Missed Lessons:
Regular lessons are crucial for long-term success. Lessons are booked on a weekly recurring basis. If a student is unable to attend a scheduled lesson, a credit will be issued against the next billing period, up to a maximum of 4 lesson credits per year. If a teacher has to miss an invoiced lesson, and no substitute teacher can be arranged, the teacher will provide a makeup lesson.
Online Lessons during Enforced Closures:
Online learning ensures continuity of education and professional guidance during periods when face-to-face tuition is not possible. Up Tempo Music Academy teachers have experience conducting lessons online. If our centre or schools are required to close, students should expect to continue lessons online. Standard policies regarding missed lessons and refunds apply to online learning.
Overdue Lesson Fees:
To sustain a viable income for our music teachers, students with unpaid fees after 30 days may attract a late fee of $15 per month until fees are brought up to date. The school and its teachers reserve the right to cancel a student’s lessons without notice if fees are not paid in full when due. Overdue accounts may be handed over to debt collection agencies, and associated collection fees will be passed on to the student/parent.
Cancelling Lessons:
Students should provide sufficient notice when ceasing lessons to ensure a smooth transition. If it is not possible to attend some lessons in the current billing period, students may be offered the opportunity to take those lessons online or have any overpayments held as a credit against future lessons. Refunds will not be given.
Health and Safety:
Students and teachers must take reasonable steps to ensure their health and safety. Along with police vetting and documented health and safety procedures, students and parents may be required to follow additional measures. Attention should be given to hearing protection and posture when playing instruments.
Instruments:
To derive the most benefit from lessons, students should have access to an instrument at home and lesson. Students are expected to supply their own instrument. Advice on where to hire or buy instruments is available upon request.
Contact Information:
Up-to-date contact details, including address, email, and phone number, must be provided at all times during learning with Up Tempo Music Academy.
Privacy:
Personal information will not be shared with third parties outside of Up Tempo Music Academy, its employees, contractors, agents, partner schools, or subsidiaries. Permission will be sought for all other situations.
Photography and Video Footage:
Photos and videos of students participating in lessons and concerts may be used by Up Tempo Music Academy for training or promotional purposes. Parents are encouraged to post photos and videos of their own children responsibly. Requests to remove posts can be made by contacting the office.
Music Books:
Students are encouraged to build a library of music and tutor books. If a teacher purchases a music book on a student’s behalf, reimbursement must be made within 7 days. Books supplied by Up Tempo Music Academy will be added to the student’s account and fall due for payment within seven days.
Copyright:
Copyright law prohibits complete photocopies of published materials. Only excerpts for educational purposes are permitted. Students and teachers are expected to comply with all legal requirements and indemnify Up Tempo Music Academy against any resulting actions.
Amendments to Terms and Conditions:
Up Tempo Music Academy may make changes to its terms of tuition from time to time to improve its service. Any changes will be published on the website. By taking lessons with Up Tempo Music Academy, you agree to abide by these terms and conditions.
